And what did AFSCME International lobby for the most during the most recent congress (along with Sierra Club): S.2579 (Drinking Water Safety and Infrastructure Act)
Yeah, I kinda like safe drinking water. Don't you?
What about at the state level?
Well, there was Measure 97, the ballot measure that would have forced corporations operating in Oregon to pay their fair share. Ultimately that measure failed but AFSCME PEOPLE helped make that campaign possible and changed the general understanding of how little corportations actually pay to be a part of this society when compared with working people.
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in attending this conference along with your statment of interest.

November 17 & 18: Steward Training in Portland
See attached .pdf for details of this upcoming training. Remember our local is committed to helping our members learn more about our contract and what it means to be a Union member in general. Steward training is a great place to gain that knowledge. You don't need to become a Steward but the training is a great way to learn more. We encourage this by paying lost time for our members who are interested in attending.
Please contact Karen Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details and to sign up!
