General Membership Meeting - February 17, 2021
Feb 17, 2021

Workplace safety is a cornerstone of the Labor Movement’s agenda and takes on a new meaning during a pandemic. The growing numbers of successful vaccinations along with the Biden Administration's commitment to ramping up federal OSHA’s efforts to protect us give us hope, but we cannot sit by and wait for help to arrive. We must continue taking action each day to help enforce existing rules and laws in order to keep our members and all workers safe.

Too many people are still being exposed to COVID-19 at work, but through our unions we can truly take steps toward greater safety from this deadly virus.

That is why the Oregon AFL-CIO is presenting a training on February 16 at 5:30pm on Zoom to educate Oregon’s unions on how to enforce Oregon OSHA’s Emergency Temporary Standard for COVID-19. We will provide the tools workplace leaders need to report unsafe conditions and hold employers accountable.

Please RSVP to receive the Zoom link for February 16.

Labor in the 21st Century: A Labor Black History event

In this conversation, Rev. Terry Melvin, President of CBTU and Secretary-Treasurer of NY AFL-CIO will expound on the concepts of solidarity and racial justice through the lens of personal narrative. There will be a discussion on how collective bargaining advances worker and racial justice.
